Start Where You Are

Start Where You Are

I wish I could remember where I saw this phrase…”start where you are.” But, like all too often, I likely saw it scrolling through social media, or perhaps heard it on a podcast that I had every intention of immersing myself in as I completed 10 other chores.

I am very distracted. Distracted by where I "should be." Which, interestingly enough, doesn't actually exist. Maybe you experience this as well? Do you also give entirely too much energy to the idea in your head of "where you should be?" We give the word Should an enormous amount of power. Enough to destroy confidence and warp our dreams. So how do we take it back?

Start Where You Are

This series started with the painting titled "Should." The painting consists of many of my favorite colors, but this one leaves me feeling uncomfortable. What a great representation of "Should". "Should" takes all of our favorite things, and makes us feel guilty, sad, and uncomfortable.

Just Take A Step.

Just One Step. This was my reflection as I worked on this new series.

Then A Second Step.

One At A Time.
