I am a multiple exposure photographer who works with an in-camera multiple exposure process that is unique and true to myself. Challenged by an early assertion that photography isn't art, I am driven to experiment with my creative process. 

I create alcohol ink paintings or glass panels. I then choose flowers that make my heart sing to arrange, soaking in the beauty and joy that these gifts bring. Finally I take multiple exposure photos of all of these elements. The result is a wonderfully surprising image, initially attracting the viewer with bright and inviting colors and then drawing them in to explore unexpected details. 

Ultimately, my process is an undertaking of self-discovery, honoring the human condition, our complexity as beings and my desire to release my control to the creative process.

Erica Tamburo is a multiple-exposure photographer whose flower portraits are as vibrant and complex as she is. A true multi-passionate, she is known as many things: photographer, engineer, artist, researcher, painter, farmgirl, writer, leader, and mindfulness practitioner. 

Her pieces are layered, surprising and engaging, encouraging exploration and contemplation. Her process relies on intuition, experimentation, and trust. Finding her unique voice has been the artist’s greatest achievement, and she delights in spending her time evolving her distinctive language and deciding what to say next. 

Growing up on a farm in Ohio nurtured Erica’s love of nature, of things that grow, and the natural elements. Moving to Pittsburgh in 1998, she carried that with her while her parallel careers in medical imaging and photography grew alongside each other. Her lifelong challenge is finding balance between her artistic and technical inclinations.
