It's an exciting thing when you discover what you are passionate about. Some people seem blessed to discover it early in life while others may take a little longer to find it. I think it's worthy of celebration no matter how long it takes to arrive there. Enjoy your process and the exploration. Let your heart sing!

This series of photos celebrates my favorite flower, the dahlia, which makes my heart sing like no other. Gosh, there is just something extremely special about the dahlia. The endless shapes and sizes. The many awe inspiring colors. I've just absolutely fallen in love with them and a few around me have caught the dahlia bug as well. So needless to say, much of my catalogue at the moment are dahlias.

I remember receiving this bucket full of dahlias. I could barely decide which one to photograph first, the variety seemed endless. But this little dahlia I kept for last, like the last bite of a great meal. You know, that one you know will be the best. The one that you'll sit back and savor and enjoy the most. That was this flower for me.

This series represents the joy that I experience, and I hope that the viewer experiences, as we let our hearts sing. Jubilation, joy, exuberance, elation, ebullience, and delight, all words used to describe the feeling. Which one speaks to you?

Paired with a really special painting, the series I created is still my favorite. February 6, 2021 I showed my grandmother my alcohol inks and we created this painting together. Well, she was more of a director, too nervous to paint herself. She had loads of fun selecting the colors and watching the painting process. It is a permanent fixture in my studio, a happy memory of a happy day and a painting that I return to frequently. I'm sure it will be in future creations.
