Artist Talk For The "My Heart Sings" Exhibition

I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to display my art for four months at the Cooper-Siegel Library in Fox Chapel this year. With 38 pieces of art, including metal prints, scarves, kimonos, and mosaic art frames, the exhibition was a celebration of finding passion and arriving at a place in my career in which impostor syndrome has melted away and I can just let my heart sing. To learn more, you can read the exhibition's artist statement and my artist bio below.

To close out the show and celebrate the opportunity and art that I've shared with the Cooper-Siegel Library and their guests, we hosted a cocktail reception and artist talk. It is with all the gratitude in the world that I would like to thank my teacher and friend, David Cooper, for such a wonderful, thoughtful, and touching discussion. I have never heard my art described so eloquently and with such praise. Thank you as well to all of the attendees and friends whose hearts were with me, even though not physically present. Thank you to Cooper-Siegel Library and staff for the opportunity and for all of your kindness.

If you are interested in hearing the discussion you can find it here on YouTube. You can learn more about me, my process, goals, and a number of other interesting nuggets. I hope you enjoy.

With Much Love,

Erica

My Heart Sings Artist Statement

Life is too short to pass by the things that make your heart sing. Hello friend, my name is Erica Tamburo and I am a fine art photographer whose heart sings with every flower I see. I hope that you relish them as well. The collection assembled here for you to enjoy is my journey as an artist from 2014 to now. That journey included discovering and making space for that which I am passionate about. I have developed my unique style of using multiple exposure photography and alcohol ink paintings over the course of the last five years beginning with Watercolor Tulip 1 and Watercolor Tulip 2, a collaboration with watercolor artist Jude Goldstein. My journey has led me to develop my own paintings and now a wearable art line that I am very excited about. I hope that you leave here inspired and if you haven't already found it, a kindled energy to go out and find your passion so that you may blossom as well.

Artist Bio

Erica Tamburo is a multiple-exposure photographer whose flower portraits are as vibrant and complex as she is. A true multi-passionate, she is known as many things: photographer, engineer, artist, researcher, painter, farmgirl, writer, leader, and mindfulness practitioner.

Her pieces are layered, surprising and engaging, encouraging exploration and contemplation. Her process relies on intuition, experimentation, and trust. Finding her unique voice has been the artist’s greatest achievement, and she delights in spending her time evolving her distinctive language and deciding what to say next.

Growing up on a farm in Ohio nurtured Erica’s love of nature, of things that grow, and the natural elements. Moving to Pittsburgh in 1998, she carried that with her while her parallel careers in medical imaging and photography grew alongside each other. Her lifelong challenge is finding balance between her artistic and technical inclinations.
